Settling in Sessions

Before your child begins their educational journey at Trillium House, we will invite you and your child to join us for a 'Stay and Play' session. This informal gathering provides an opportunity for you to acquaint yourselves with the other children and staff, while allowing your child to become familiar with their new environment.

We will email you a ‘Welcome!’, which details the items your child will need for nursery, and a 'Starting Points' document. This document serves as a snapshot of your child's preferences, such as the activities they enjoy, favourite toys, and any comforting items they may have. This valuable information contributes to ensuring a smooth and positive transition to nursery life.

Recognising the unique needs of each child, we understand that nursery may be the first time many children separate from their parents or primary caregivers. Therefore, we tailor settling-in sessions to accommodate individual needs. In certain cases, we may suggest that you stay with your child for the first hour until they become acclimated to their surroundings and comfortable with the staff. After this initial period, we will kindly ask you to bid farewell to your child, assuring them that you will return soon. A dedicated team member will stay with your child, providing reassurance if needed. We will stay in touch with you via the phone, until we mutually decide on the appropriate time for your return.

Understanding that some children may require more sessions with their parents or caregivers present, while others may need just one, we commit to working collaboratively with you, to ensure that your child's nursery experience is a positive and enriching one.
